Disney On The Side, showing at Broadway On The Side, is an enchanting experience that brought the magic of our favorite animated classics to life. Set in a small, intimate space, the atmosphere was perfect for an up-close and personal performance. The talented performers truly shined, delivering captivating renditions of timeless songs with incredible vocal prowess and heartfelt emotion. Each song was a delightful homage to the beloved characters and stories that have shaped our imaginations, making it an unforgettable evening of pure Disney magic.

Among the many talented performers, a few truly stood out and left a lasting impression. Their ability to capture the essence of beloved Disney characters was remarkable, bringing both depth and authenticity to their performances. Em Matheson showed off their ability to lead a number wonderfully in “I Won’t Say I’m In Love”. Stacey Dixon, who sang "Happy Working Song", sang with such precision and charm that it felt like Amy Adams herself was on stage, perfectly capturing the whimsical spirit of Enchanted. In a beautiful and emotional rendition of “Reflection” from Mulan, Riah Shumate excellently executed this song vocally as well as adding ASL to her performance. I was absolutely delighted to see ASL so perfectly incorporated in Shumate’s number, and it brought me to tears! One of the younger performers of the night, Daphne Dixon, was a standout vocalist from the very first number in the show. Her performance of “Speechless”, an added song from the live action “Aladdin”, left ME speechless! Her ability to sing as powerfully and pure as she did with such control and emotion was wonderful. Every performer was wonderful to listen to and watch! I appreciate the wonderful performance they each gave

The staging done by  director, Megan Worthen Nelson, was nothing short of brilliant, creating a seamless flow that perfectly complemented each scene. The music direction by Emilie Miller was equally impressive, with each arrangement meticulously crafted to highlight the unique talents and abilities of the performers. Together, their efforts ensured that every moment on stage was captivating, allowing the performers to truly shine and bring their characters to life with authenticity and flair.

The lighting design added an extra layer of magic to the performance, perfectly accentuating the mood and enhancing each scene's emotional impact. The performers, with their exceptional talent and dedication, brought the stories to life in a way that was both moving and memorable. Their passion and skill, combined with the outstanding efforts of the entire production team, made this Disney cabaret an unforgettable experience that truly celebrated the enchanting world of Disney.

Sadly, this show only runs for one weekend, however, Broadway On The Side has several upcoming shows this season. Be sure to catch one of these future shows at this enchanting, intimate theater! You won’t be disappointed! Support live theatre!
