Together in the Spotlight: The Power of Collaboration in Theatre.

Theatre is far more than memorizing lines and performing under the bright stage lights, it is also an art form built entirely on community and collaboration. Every production depends on people working together, from actors and directors to stage managers, musicians, costume designers, and crew members behind the scenes. Each person brings unique talents as well as perspectives that help transform the script into a living story. I've found that in many ways, theatre reflects what strong communites should be! They should be supportive, creative, and united by a shared purpose. Through long rehearsals, problem- solving, and trust in one another, theatre teaches the importance of teamwork while creating meaningful connections both on and off the stage.

The Weight of the Role: Fat- Phobia Behind the Curtain

I learned early in theatre that people saw my size before they saw my performance. Before I ever sang a note, learned choreography, or delivered a monologue, my body had already entered the audition room ahead of me. Theatre loves to call itself a place of acceptance, a home for outsiders, creatives, and individuality. But for many performers, the stage can become one of the most quietly hostile spaces in the arts. Behind the standing ovations and inspirational speeches about inclusion, there is an uncomforable truth that fatphobia remains deeply embedded in theatre culture, from casting decisions to costume fittings, to the roles we are "allowed" to play. Sometimes it feels as though the stage was never built for us.

"Darkness Descends in Ogden As a Riveting Dracula Takes the Stage"

I'll admit it- I usually pass on seeing straight plays in favor of a good musical. But after hearing  all of the raving reviews of last year's production of Dracula at Peery's Egyptian Theater in Ogden, I knew I had to see what all of the excitement was surrounding this show when it returned to Ogden, and it more than lived up to the hype. This production proved to me that sometimes skipping the big dance and musical numbers is absolutely worth it. I am absolutely thrilled that this is my first straight play I've ever reviewed.

"Alice by Heart" Delivers a Dreamlike Descent at West Valley Arts!

West Valley Arts' production of "Alice by Heart" brings a bold yet imaginative twist to what I'd call a very familiar world of Wonderland. Not only does this production throw a familiarity at audiences, this stunning cast also performs with an almost aching beauty. This show doesn't just retell the classic story of "Alice In Wonderland", it shows the process of a certain pain the characters face, and refracts it through the lens of love, war, and even loss.
